my girlfriend told me the other day: i like it when you are so nice to me. I told her: but you don't like it when it's nice all the time. And she said: Yes, sometimes I wish you were a bit of an asshole.

That confuses me. I'm generally a non conflicting person, and while i can be nasty to people I don't like easily, I can't be so to the ones who are dear to me. Yet it seems she is suggesting I do precisely that. What did she mean? I should start being rude to her? Ignore her? That just sounds forcing a kind of behaviour that I would never want someone else to do it to me... then again, Im not a girl, so asking you then: what she meant?

It probably means that she thought that you are acting in front of her. She said that so that you'll stop faking and be yourself. Such as say out what your real thoughts and opinion instead of always trying hard to please her.

that must have been a joke lol . what girl don't like is boys tripping over their selves to be nice. there has to be a flow of niceness but it has to come naturally. if a man is falling over him self to be nice, it normally because he either has a lower confidence which i would suspect will cause problem later on in the relationship,or he is forcing him self to be something he is not. and soon that he thinks he "has the girlin the bag" he may change.
if being nice seems to shine through subtly and natural you know the man is balanced their for a more consistant and easier to get on with long term

I think it's very odd. Why did you say "you don't like it when it's nice all the time" ? Is there some history about this that you didn't share? I would be concerned that the reason that she doesn't want you to be nice to her all the time is because she is afraid your niceness indicates that you like her more than she is ready for. I would never want any friend of mine to be unpleasant to me. That doesn't really make sense.
Maybe you need a girlfriend who appreciates someone who is really nice to her. I'm sure there a plenty of those around.

Well you could start by breaking up with her. Then, she will realize it was all her fault for confusing you. After that you guys can work on her problems and you will be in charge of the relationship. You would be giving her exactly what she wants. Thats the truth man, don't let anyone lie to you.

That is a very odd request. None of my friends want their boyfriends to be rude EVER. Ask her to explain further.

Stay yourself! Maybe, she just ask for more opinion out of you.. Do not have to be an @sshole, just start giving your opinion more. Whether it be good or bad.

girls like nice guys, but if you are too nice, that makes us feel like we can walk all over you and we will. we want a guy who is nice, but can tell us no once in a while and let us know that he feels like he has control, even if its not true all the time.

Girls need their men to be just that MEN. Though we want you to care about us and be nice most of us also want you to be in control. We want you to take the lead. She wants you to give her a challenge.
