Hitler, FDR, Churchhill and MLK had the greatest affect on their audiences.

MLK, Kennedy and Reagan uttered words that will be remembered for centuries.

MLK, Churchhill, Tung, Hitler, Reagan, Annan, Tojo and FDR's speeches all had far-reaching consequences upon humanity.

Clinton does not belong on the list unless you want to consider his declaration of "I did not have sex with that woman!' That will be recanted for centuries, also. Though I don't think it merits mention.

MLK was, in my opinion, the most effective speaker of all that time and his speeches held the most positive messages for people everywhere regardless of race, gender or, social class.

This is a very subjective question.

Most people don't bother with history so past speakers are all but forgotten. Your list shows a wide variety of speakers from all over the world. Each one a star in it's own right except maybe Kofi Annan, who, to my mind, does not belong on this list.

In my opinion, Sir Winston Churchill had a most successful effect in his speeches to the nations during WWII. He rallied the British and the free world during those dark hours.

MLK sure left his mark on the civil right movement.

Chairman Mao had billions of people suspended to his lips.

Adolf was very charismatic in his speeches and rallied the German nation only to destroy it again, same with Tojo and the Japanese.

FDR was, in his particular way, the strength of America in those days and is remembered for his speeches.

The others although well spoken and polished speakers are just that. Most of them will not be remembered for speaking 10 years after they die.

Hitler had a great effect on his audience but most of what he said was rabble rousing drivel.
The only two who really stand out for me are Martin Luther King and Winston Churchill. Both could give very dramatic speeches which were capable of lifting the emotions of the people they were speaking to. It's a toss of a coin on those two.
