It can be used that way in a gothic sense. On the other hand, my Mom is actually very religious in a literal sense, she interprets the cross as a pagan symbol and thinks it is wrong to wear a cross around your neck, display a cross. It can mean different things to different people. The intolerant, close minded person below me likely gave me the thumbs down. Can it not mean different things to different people, do we not agree the cross has a pagan meaning, along with other roots in Catholicism, for one?

NO! It was a part of the plan. Without him dying we would not have the opportunity for eternal salvation. the cross represents our sins being paid for.

No...because it symbolizes him sacrificing his life for the people of the world. (And to BlueGirl, it wouldn't be in a gothic sense. An upside-down cross is a Satanic symbol, just to clear that up.)

No, because Christians celebrate his death, because he died to save his followers. The Lord said that there cannot be forgiveness of sins without shedding of blood, and that's why he sent His son to earth to die for his followers. So christians are grateful and praise Him for His death.
