To me, cinema is not just a hobby, but a study. Therefore, I take it seriously, and have established rules for myself while watching films. Some people (mostly casual movie fans) consideir me weird for this, but I find that these guidelines help maximize the enjoyment and education I derive from watching films.

*Once you start watching a movie, don't stop until it's over.
*Don't watch a movie with expectations. That is, don't go in thinking "This is gonna be great!" or "This is gonna suck!"
*The bigger the screen, the better the movie.
*The darker the room, the better the movie.
*No talking or distractions while watching a movie.
*All movies (horror, anime, fantasy, war, etc) are fair game.

For me , all your rules (except the expectation) are all just common sense

Your not strange.

My number one rule is no talking or distractions. It's ok to laugh if it's funny, or whatever, but running commentaries, and cell phones going off, aren't permitted. I mean your not supposed to disturb the other patrons when your at a movie theater, so the same rules should apply when your watching at home. You pretend like your at a movie theater. It's fun to discuss movies, but not until afterwards.

(2 minute restroom breaks are permitted half way through however, especially since so many movies today are so darn long)

You do seem a bit strict... I do try and watch a film straight through without stopping, but sometimes I do get distracted. I will always finish it though once I've started, even if it is really really bad.

*The bigger the screen, the better the movie.

Wait a minute - are you saying that "Gigli" on a huge screen would be better than "Lord of the Rings" on a smaller screen?

I would seriously disagree with that.
