I saved a guys life 2 months ago.
At work I was called to a brawl outside a nightclub where a number of males were fighting. Some how the bouncers at the club thought it would be a good idea to let people outside with bottles during the fight and some ended up in the brawl.
Knowing the sort of bar it was I knew that there was a good chance that some of the guys would be carrying knifes so I hung around the out sides of the main brawl (rather than running in the middle to cop a knife in the back) breaking up small one on ones.
I noticed 2 guys well outside the main fight area and went to check on it. When I got there I saw this long haired freak hit the other guy who then dropped like a sack (cut badly on the cheek) it was then I saw a bottle in the long haired guys hand and he was raising it to stab this guy on the ground again. So I came up from behind and grabbed this guys wrist and jerked him around to put myself in-between long hair and the bleeding cheek guy.
I told the long haired guy to drop the bottle twice (I'm not about to grab a bottle out of someones hand who's still got it ******) while still holding his wrist. I got lucky when he did drop it (my buddies showed up) I was getting to the stage where I'd ****** a fist and was about to see if I could k.o. him(not a bright move - but it would have been my only option if it was one on one). But it was the longest wait ever - staring into this guys eyes I saw no remorse for what he'd done and I saw the twitches as he looked at my body position and how I'd set my hands looking for an opportunity to break free.
I was lucky one of the guys I was working with wasn't (he won't be back at work for a while) - he was stabbed in the hand going the same thing.

I gave a guy the Heimlich maneuver to keep him from choking to death. Does it still count if I'm the one who made him start choking in the first place. He hopefully learned a valuable lesson, "don't pick a fight while easting a candy bar." I have to say I felt pretty good. The bully went away un injured, no punches were thrown, but I felt like I had the power of life and death, literally at my finger tips. Does a lot for your reputation when you can deal a lethal blow with one finger and then save the guy with one slap to the back That guy really never troubled me again, and very few others did either. I've treated some serious injuries, one might have died without my help but that guy I was certain.

I have never saved anybodies life, but my daughter saved mine. I had an anaphylaxic reaction to a bee sting. It was the first one I had ever had and I had never been allergic to bees before. And I had been stung many times before. I kept passing out and just thought I was napping. I didn't want my daughter to call EMS because my house was a mess! She called any how and they saved my life.

I know this is the opposite of the answer to your question, but I hope it helps. I've had someone save MY life. In short, I tried to kill myself and thanks to her I failed. It's been about 7 years since then and I have experienced many wonderful things, including my first intercontinental vacation. I would've been an idiot to pass up all of the great things that have happened to me in the past 7 years. I personally feel forever indebted to her, and the feeling is just as strong today as it was 7 years ago.
