I have decided to write a musical. I love musicals, and I have been involved in the theatre world for 3/4's of my life now.

I need some starter ideas. I would love if someone has a story they wrote, or a great book they think would make a musical.

I really am excited and would love to do this... so please.. any ideas would help!

Thanks!

I hope this doesn't come across as rude...

You should really wait for something to inspire YOU, not take ideas from other people. I hear friends of mine saying all the time, "I want to write a play/movie/poem, but I don't know what to write it about." I say... then don't do it right now. If you try to force something, it won't be good anyway.

Here are a couple of ways to fight writer's block:

1. Just start writing. Stream of consciousness. Whatever you think, write it down. You may just have a spark of an idea that you can eventually make into something.

2. Sit down and make a list of the top ten things that pop into your mind. Pick a category like, "places" or "problems" and just write down the first 10 things you think of, without worrying if it'd make a good story. Again, once you have 10, you might have a good one to start from. If not, do it again.

3. Go watch people outside at a park or a mall or something, and see if you see anything interesting that inspires you. Go to a museum, a concert, anything that moves you, and see what happens.

Good luck!

You dont just adapt a story or book into a musical, you have to have the copyright holder's permission to do that. If you are not an accomplished composer and playwright, you are not going to get very far with your musical
