It depends.
In the film (SPIDERMAN) it was the special breed of spider that gave Parker the ability to shoot webs from his arm!
However the comics suggested that Parker was bitten by a genetically enhanced spider but that did not give him the ability to shoot webs. He created his own "web-slinger".
SO IT DEPENDS ON WHICH SPIDER YOU DECIDE TO GET BITTEN BY!
