To have a friend, you must be a friend.

It's kind of like the good old saying, do unto others what you would have them do unto you.

I have an idea, next time you go on a regular errand that you do, say hello and just mention the weather or something.

I know how it is. I am alone a lot myself and don't really have a lot of friends, actually none right now. Plus, my husband is in Iraq. He's really my only friend and hes a thousand miles away. There are a lot of people like you feeling the same way. If I knew you lived close, I'd be your friend and would not bother you. I know how it is, because, I like my privacy and want a friend when I need them. I pray sometimes when I need friends and I magically get a phone call or a smile or a hello as I'm walking. I feel better when I go walking and stuff also. I see people there. I say hello. I would also recommend signing up for a continuing education class at a local community college or you could sign up to get a certificate in something. Church is a good way to meet people. Don't feel ashamed of who you are. It's okay, I'm shy too.

first off if you can't be bothered well then how do you think u will keep a friend once you make one it takes a lot of time and effort to keep a friendship alive. anyway online is a good start join a forum or something then talk with people who share similar intrests eventually you may make a few friends and if they live around where you live you can meet in person and hang out. good luck.

Just talk to people, anywhere, on the bus, in the supermarket queue, in the park, library. Most people will respond to a smile or a hello, and if you can manage a quip, you are bound to ge a reponse. If you are very shy, start with youngsters or the very old, they tend to respond best.
OR, go to the pub and join the smokers in the sin bin - the crack is always much better there!!

Well being yourself is key. What is with these rude remarks? If you call someone to just talk or spend time with someone will help them to remember you. Making people remember you and making them wanting to come back for more fun and laughs is key. I know if I wanted to hang out and be friends with some one I would want to have a good time with alot of laughing and having fun. So being yourself is number one key. Also try to think what they would like... Hope you find a friend.

park yourself somewhere people like to stop and chat, like a cafe or newstand.

Read Dale Carnegie's HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE. I was kind of antisocial in high school, but after reading that book, I had more friends than I knew what to do with.

A key insight there is most people's favorite subject is themselves. If you just ask them questions about themselves, they will think you are the most fascinating person they have ever met.

You have to find a way to get out and meet people! Online can be fun and it can be lasting. But it can also be hard to really get to know someone that way and you have to be careful! What kind of friend do you want? Someone to talk to without ever seing them? Or someone to go do things with?

i dont know you so im not sure what youre like but always be outgoing. be kind to everyone you meet. if somebody puts you down, dont let it get to you. at all. go out of your way to meet new people and be nice to anyone and everyone. dont be shy, remember that with most people you try and meet you dont ever have to see them again if you dont want to. but most of all, stay true to yourself. oh and get a dog or cat. it sounds weird but they can easily become one of your best friends. and if you get a dog you can go out and walk it and people might come up to you to pet it and you can start a conversation with them. but really the most important advice i can possibly give you is ALWAYS BE YOURSELF. its not worth being somebody youre not to get friends. im in high school which may make me seem ignorant but high schoolers often know what theyre talking about when it comes to this kind of stuff. good luck!! =]

oh and id be your friend if i knew you. =]

start by leaving your home and if that is your picture don't worry about your size as long as you dress according to your size there should not be a problem, go bowling, sit at the end of the bar and converse with others buying drinks eventually someone will offer to sit with you. get out and give it ago!
