the fan relay is going bad..this is inside the furnace where the heating element control is...it is a black box about 1x1x2 with 5 or 6 terminals (places where you push wires on)on top of it with 5 or 6 wires connected to it...what this does is turn your fan on for ac or by using the fan on switch on your thermostat....it is bad and is staying in the on position because the contacts are busnt inside it...these only cost somewhere in the 12 to 18 dollar range and you can replace this easily yourself....just make sure you draw yourself a picture of how the wires connect to it...each terminal is numbered to make this easier for you to do this...

I assume the Fan switch is on Auto and not On. We had this happening and found that the 6 year old had switched it to On. Otherwise it sounds like the thermostat has gone bad or the control board in the blower unit is on the fritz. You can put in a new thermostat, but the blower unit is probably best left to an A/C service person.

Maybe low speed fan switch has been jumped. People used to do this all of the time to keep air moving when the AC is off. WHen the AC comes on the, high speed is turned on via a relay. Is it the high or low speed fan?

It sounds to me like you have the fan switch set to ON instead of AUTO. If you merely change the fan switch to AUTO, it will behave itself! :)
