It never has been and never will be , You can sign a document, with a gold pen and five star bond parchment deed paper, and fine people for not speaking English, but hell , the people that are American cant even talk proper English, are we going to fine people that talk slang, or have a southern draw or northern accent, ot Texas, or new Orleans accent, i am a person born in the projects i don't speak the Kings English , I have the feelings it should be English only ,but it will be impossible to in force.

I think it should be the first language spoken in public. If you want to speak a different language at home and be bilingual that is fine, but outside everybody should speak English.

No, I really think that the USA is to diversified for only English, It takes all kinds of people to make the world go round, the USA is the greatest country in the world, people from all over the world come here because America is so wonderful, we need many different languages for all these people from so many other countries.

YES --- BUT!!!!!!! we are a cornucopia of peoples from all parts of the world. It would be most difficult to teach them all English. Yet, I don't agree that Spanish should be so played out either. They should have to learn to speak the language if they are gonna live here. See? back and forth.

Not just ONLY, but one should be able to speak it well enough along with any other language they know. If ya live here, then know the language.

Impossible. There are many immigrants from all over the world in USA. Also, knowing more than one language means a good education and better work opportunity.
