Last time my husband and I went to Las Vegas, we were approached many times by beggars asking for money and they were quite frankly scary to me. We walked away as fast as possible and a few followed us a short while. I was just wondering now that we are going back again, maybe there is a better solution or something I can say to them so they will leave us alone. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also is there anything that we should do that is not common knowledge as far as free shows or freebies to get while we are there. Thanks a bunch :)

I find it fairly easy to avoid the situation on the crowded sidewalks of LV, if they are too lazy to work, they are going to also be too lazy to move that extra 10 feet through a crowd to get to you.

I guess saying you have no cash on you could work, or you could do the preemptive strike thing and ask them if they could spare a quarter, you just lost it all gambling. :-)

Free shows
Harrah's will give you 2 free tickets to see Mac King if you're a first time sign up for a "Total Rewards" slot club card. Do the same at Bally's for 2 free tickets to Jubilee. It's the same "Total Rewards" slot club for both. Just have one of you sign up at Harrah's then the other sign up at Bally's, separate accounts! Both are very good shows.

"Big Elvis" - Bill's Gamblin Hall - Free lounge act

Good shows that are inexpensive anyway, plus 2-4-1's are easy to come by.
Dirk Arthur - Xtreme Magic - Tropicana $29-$35 2-4-1 in the free LV magazine "What's On"
American Superstars - Stratosphere $41.75 1/2 price tickets and or 2-4-1 coupons are easy to come by for this show

Check the 1/2 price ticket outlets for bargains
http://www.tix4tonight.com >3 locations on the strip & 1 downtown

http://www.tickets2nite.com > The Coke bottle next to MGM

Free coupons - good ones
the Fremont Street Experience give away a very nice sheet of coupons. Go to the FSE office, 425 Fremont, it's located on the 2nd floor of the parking garage next to Walgreens. Show an out of state ID. Some of the coupons include
2-4-1 buffet for Main Street Station >the MSS lunch & dinner buffets are already the best value in LV. This coupon is not good for MSS's Fri/Sat seafood dinner buffet.
2-4-1 buffet Fremont - not as good as MSS, but it's still a nice buffet. The coupon is not good for their Sun/Tue/Fri Seafood dinner buffet >at $15.99 it's the best value seafood buffet in LV by a long shot anyway.
$10 free play Binion's & $10 free play Golden Nugget - There has also been a $10 free play coupon for Binion's in the "What's On" magazine - Binion's did allow both, $20 free play each.

Silverton has been offering $20 free play to new slot club members + earn 1000 points and get 2 free buffets.
1-800-588-7711 >Silverton changes offers frequently, I would call first.

We save a lot of money using these two.

I agree with what the other people said. Ignore them. If you're like me though and can't stand somebody saying "Spare some change?" for ten minutes while waiting for something then you can tell them that you don't carry cash on you. Beware if you talk to a homeless person. A lot of them will do something like try to punch you in the face or something to land them in jail so they can get a place to sleep for the night and some food. Saying that you don't carry cash on you though has worked well for me though.

if you live in vegas and don't have a job you're just lazy. tell them to piss off. The economy is too good to be jobless, and if the gambled it all they will have to work their way back to stability. thats life.

"I don't carry cash"...this works in CA...in Vegas...you may want to just keep walking..."Sorry I just lost it all "may work
If you don't have it, they won't follow you for it! Good luck...I run into this problem all the time when I am working...I don't carry cash.

Ignore them, do not give them anything, walk away. If they persist, call 911 on your cell phone.

Ignore them.
Just walk like how you normally do...or stroll....take your time. Pretend you dont' see them or hear them. They will leave sooner than you realize. They don't want to miss other "customers."

Make no eye contact. Ignore. I know it seems rude, but, that's the only way you will not become a victim.

Don't make eye contact and just keep walking. If you feel you have to respond, just say, "I'm sorry, but I don't have any money."
