Southwest offers a direct flight from San Diego to Vegas. The flights I took were about half full and not too expensive. Driving is kind of fun too but be sure that you bring plenty of water and snacks for the trip as there's not alot along the highway for a good portion of the trip.

By car, I-15 will take you right to the exits for the Strip. Make sure you pack water with you inside the car and use it. Pre-set your radio for FM 99.7 and 98.7. Those are the two frequencies for the highway stations. They are the ones with the clear signal throughout the Mojave Desert, once you get north of Cajon Pass. They also give regular traffic updates about I-15 and I-40 (the road to Laughlin). There are several towns along the way in the Mojave and there are also rest stops.

Just take the 15 its simple plus the 215 once you hit vegas gets nuts everyday. also there have been doing construction on the 15 by state line so its a speed trap.
