Try this:
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Happiness is a state of being. You can hurt physically, yet still be happy. You can face loss, yet still be happy. It goes further than just being content. Some would say that being content is the most basic level of happiness and I would agree. If you are content with life, that means that you are happy with the way things are. If you are more pleased with how things are, your happiness is better too. Happiness is strictly a personal feeling and can take form in many ways. I could focus on the fact that I'm blind, have cerebral palsy, am single, and overweight. Does that mean I'm not happy? I'm extremely happy with things. I am content with where I am in life and happy I'm able to still enjoy the little things in life. That's just my opinion

This question should probably be in the psychology category because happiness is one of the six basic emotions that we are born with. An emotion is an intense feeling in one that is brought on by a specific situation or thought pattern. The opposite of happiness is sadness or depression and it is brought on by negative situations or a pattern of negative thinking.
People can be happy for a long time and they can be depressed for a long time. When they have a feeling of intense well being brought about by positive situations and thinking they are truly happy and it can last for a long time.. But if they are chronically depressed by negative thinking or negative situations it is a condition that is deemed pathological and may require medical treatment. Rapid or slow cycling of periodic elation and deep depression that exists for a long time is a psychosis and needs psychiatric treatment.
Happiness is a feeling that is within you and may be brought about by thinking, which is also within you, and/or by external perceived situations.
May you have lasting happiness, good health, peace and love!

Well, the point of life is not happiness, the point of happiness is life.
Humans, like all the other animals are suppose to find food (a job) find a mate, have some offspring, and protect their own. If you're doing this, you will for the most part be happy.
If you lost your love, you are supposed to be unhappy. Unhappiness is supposed to drive you to find love again.
Of course happiness is not constant. It a measurement of success or failure. Don't disconnect. Start moving your life in the direction you think it should go.

I think that TRUE Happiness is that which Elevates the Human conditon while, lifting the Spirit.This does not mean that we always Feel good. It means that if we keep our focus on what is really important, then then small unpleasantries
can be manageable. Like a woman who has prayed for a
baby for 20 years, and finds out she is pregnant. She is truly happy. So does the difficulty of labor mean that she is not happy? No it is manageable because she knows where true happiness is. Good luck.

You have to be ultra powerful to be happy for ever. In order to be powerful, we need to remove our weaknesses one by one, all weaknesses relating to the body, mind and spirit. It is due to our own weaknesses that we feel unhappy... the external objects and events are only catalysts but the real process is within ourselves. While removing our weaknesses one by one, we come to the stumbling block of ego and this has to be ultimately removed.... it is almost impossible for us to do that... therefore everlasting absolute happiness is only a concept.
However, the above process would certainly help us maximize our ability to remain in a happy state of mind despite whatever happens externally.

happiness differs from person to person. a poor peasant would be happy if he receives a loaf of bread but a rich man will not be happy if he earns say 1 million dollars only, he would be striving for more; happiness there fore is in the heart of a person.

Many, including myself find that what makes us happy continues to evolve and to change over time.
I believe at the core is the absence of worry.

happiness is hard to explain, but basicly its stopping and looking around, seeing who you are and letting yourself be. there is no quick fix for happiness, it comes from understanding and excepting yourself, others and, seeing the beauty in nature .
