So far, every great power, whether military or economic, has eventually stopped being a great power through causes beyond its control. There is no reason to assume this will not continue.

The Roman Empire was mentioned as being the feet of the golden statue in Daniel's interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream. Every empire or kingdom after that had shown the same characteristic traits: soft and hard, but do not mix. Whether the US is going the same way is really up to her citizens. United we stand, divided we fall.

Yes, I fear that all good things come to an end. The Romans kept their empire going in some form for something like 1500 years. America is only 231 years old. We will be doing well if we can last as long as the Roman Empire.
The Roman Empire had severe problems with illegal immigration, the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, and bad leadership. We have the same problems today. We should not be complaisant, because bad things could indeed happen to us.

No. To begin with, we are not an empire. With the exception of Puerto Rico and Guam, every bit of real estate we have ever seized has been returned to the native population of those countries. That even includes Germany and Japan. Secondly, we are one of only two nations in the history of the planet which based its existence on an ideology alone. Not tied to a single religion. Not a fealty towards a crowned head of state. Not even a nationality born out of one single ethnic or racial group. That other nation ceased existence on December 24, 1991. It was the Soviet Union.

The world has changed a lot since then. I don't think the USA is going to find itself being invaded by barbarian hordes or anything. I think it's much more likely that the US will change into something different from what it was intended to be. I think eventually there will be a shift to a totalitarian form of government in order to maintain security.

I was thinking ignoring a threat as they did when Hitler an Japan were starting to be aggressive...as the Muslims fanatics are.
Pretending if they close their eyes they will go away.

It already has, and for quite some time. There are hundreds of books on US foreign policy in the 20th century, such as The Talons of the Eagle, by Peter H. Smith.
