This just shows how ridiculous and stupid hollywood is. 'Rescue Dawn' (starring Christian Bale, which is based on the true story of a man fighting for survival in the jungle during the Vietnam War) is given a very limited release while crap movies like 'Bratz' (about conceited and shallow girls that are giving girls a bad image) are opening everywhere. What is going on?

A broad market for Bratz, a narrow market for Dawn, thus the disparity

Dunno.
But the bratz movie is probably only going to be seen by it's target audience (tweens who play with the dolls), and while I'm sure all the little 8 year olds are will be begging their mommies to go, this isn't a exactly a good time to be in theaters.
There's the Bourne Ultimatum out AND the Simpson's movie. Also there's a load of other movies 10x better than this. Even the really crappy ones are better. Like I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. But maybe I'm underestimating the power and numbers of the little rich 7-12 year olds of the world.
Although it is sad that this **** movie will get more attention than other, better ones.

Bratz is based on a very popular line of dolls, so they believe that they have a built in market of little girls who will beg to see it. On the other hand, I don't know much about Rescue Dawn, but I'm guessing it has an R rating. This means that it automatically gets less business (because only adults can see it) and it isn't the kind of movie that a lot of teenagers will want to see. It has nothing to do with quality and everything to do with $$$.

"Rescue Dawn" was actually opened limited release on July 4th. It was just recently released wide about a week or so ago. I have no idea why movies theaters around you wouldn't have it. Although theaters will usually only get movies they think the demographic will like. Sadly, you might have to travel to see "Rescue Dawn". It is worth it. Christian Bale never fails. I heard mixed reactions from the crowd though. Find out where the closest theater is playing it near you and see it.

The studios think Bratz will be a bigger hit at the box office so they open it in more theaters. Personally, I think the whole concept of Bratz is ludicrous. They dress like skanks and wear way too much make-up. The dolls should be renamed "Whorez"

Stupid bratty little Barbie wannabees will eat it up, producing better revenue than a thought provoking, worthwhile movie. It's all about the money.
