That's happened to me as well back in my prime I never thought it was the 120 MPH + serve though I always thought I had faulty balls. No wonder Wilson never sent me any replacement cans it was all my fault. Thanks man I feel way better now.

Trust me kid, it was a bad ball. There is no way in hell you actually did that out of your own abilities. If you did you would have obliterated every ball you served with and quit tennis or somehow got banned from it since nobody would play you since you serve them dead balls and they would continually request lets, forcing you to serve again infinitely until you ran out of balls.
I doubt you even broke 100 mph, I'm sorry but you probably didn't break 100 mph.
Using Roddick's motion doesn't add anything to the serve. All it does is make you look a bit queer.
As to how fast would the ball have to be served at, well over what a human can serve. However, if you attached a blade of some sort to the edge of the frame of a thin frame racket, like the nSix.One Tour, and hit a "slice" serve and did a major "shank", well you get the idea. You just shanked your ball with a slice serve... Forgive the gay pun.
I'd guess the ball would have to be served at around the speed of sound to do that, maybe more.
And as to nobody else can pop out 110 mph second serve, watch a video of Sampras and be ready to **** your pants. All that with an 85 square inch, 13+ ounce, 80 lb strung racket. I'm sure Roddick won't be able to top 110 with that. But he would still probably hit a nasty 110 mph serve, while breaking the racket.

It was probably a "broken" ball. Not all balls are created equally. It's highly unlikely that you broke a perfectly good ball (even if you were serving at 150 mph ala Andy Roddick). I also copy Roddick's service motion when I play and my first serve speed (never actually had a radar on it) is probably only about 85 or 90 mph. I'm 5'7", 135lbs and 28 years old. So with all due respect, I don't think a 13 year old guy (even if you are bigger than me) is hitting the ball hard enough to crack it open! :)

I just got off the phone with both Wilson and Penn after reading your question. The representatives agreed you had to be serving at least 156 mph. They recommended you quit school and play in some qualifiers with that kind of heat.
They also noted that Dunlop balls were of lesser quality and that a 13 year old using "Roddicks serve" could potentially split a seam with a 76 mph serve.
So there ya have it. If you were using a Penn or Wilson, join the ATP. If it was a Dunlop, well... see ya at Jr. High on Aug 27th.

don't get too excited bout ur speed just cuz u serve in a similar style to andy roddick.. first off u can't get that speed unless u're at least like 5'8" or so and i doubt u're that tall at 13.. second if u did serve at around 120mph ur shoulder by now would be useless unless u're jacked as hell for ur age which i doubt again.. third dude it takes years of pracitce and work outs to serve 120+.. i serve 120+ once in a while and i have been workin out 5 hours a day for the past 3 years and it still takes a toll on my shoulder.. the ball was probably bad or something.. maybe bounced on a small rock..

my twist serve has done this before i was on hard court and i added all the topspin i could muster and the ground wouldn't except it so the ball had a small brake when it came up.
Age:17
Serve style: flat is like roddick but kick is my own style
bench:350
height: 6'3"
weight: 197
Rank: 5.5

Just goes to show you not all Democrats are out of touch with reality. If more Democrats do this and oppose Obama's health care plan, they will be re-elected. Right now Detroit's Unions need a swift kick in the @ss and it would be great if a Democrat was the one to do it. ZZZZZIIIIINGGGGG

Don't get too excited about breaking that ball. You may break
many more, but that is NOT important. Practice your serve,
break many more balls, but overall plan to be an overall best
player.
The ball is definitely bad and it is unfortunate you got 'em.

I saw the serve through the link...this was the first time i saw his seve closely and WOW!! such a fantastic serve......U said you are just 13....here there are 2 conditions.....either the balls were bad....or you were good.....
If your balls were bad..then your happiness is short-lived...
If you were good........ then you were not good...you were simply too good......if you go this way, then who knows..... you might just break A-Rod's 155 mph record....
Good luck for your serve buddy.....

it may not have been the power of the serve but its top spin that made the ball crack. It happens if there is no cooperation between surface of the court and the way the ball bounces.I know that from my own experience.Even new balls crack if they don't bounce the right way due to extra top spin
