In the wake of Katrina, and seeing how our bridges are in need of attention....would you want future administrations focused on building America, or would you want dollars sent overseas to build new democracies? Given that Congress is now debating further spending and is stuck with George W. Bush's bills (having spent way more than anticipated in Iraq), do you see where America can also afford the added expense of fortifying infrastructure in need of repair or rebuilding?

Footnote: Saudi Arabia's huge oil revenue puts it in a position to build modern cities on the Red Sea, self contained with all the latest technologies...even having energy available at half the cost of what the rest of the world spends...while America under present Administration has squandered resources to (virtually) go it alone to fortify other nations.

What is wrong with this picture, or are you okay with it?

Not just you Dave...it's me as well.

Nikki...it's one or the other...or, as Bush will tell you...we can do both.

Both? There is an end to everything. A ten trillion dollar national debt tells me they are stuck in the mud trying to find the means to keep the fiasco going.

OK. Here's my opinion. I live in America, I pay taxes to live here. I work hard for my money. Why the hell would I want anyone else BUT my fellow citizens to benefit from my earnings? I am not a very political person, but I feel strongly about this one. I think that America needs to stay out of everyone else's business and mind their own - instead of helping countries that have nothing to do with us, rebuild our own damn country. I do however, feel it necessary and only right to rebuild what we have destroyed among the innocent villages during battles of a meaningless war. Don't take that to heart. I do not mean to say that our soldiers are over yonder for nothing. They are fighting for what they believe in. Just because I don't believe in why we are there, does not mean that I do not support their efforts. I just think that we need to focus on our economy and what is going on here before we can go around fixing everyone else.

We have spent our national treasure and gone very deep into debt to fight a war to make the oil cartels richer. Meanwhile there isn't enough money to take care of our own. We have been living under a cloud of sheer lunacy for the past 6 plus years.
We aren't fighting terrorism folks! If we were we would have gone after Osama Ben Laden - remember him? But instead we went after Afghanistan because the Taliban refused Bush to put a pipeline through their country. then we went into Iraq to get hold of the worlds 2nd largest oil supply. We already have had a pact with Saudi Arabia since WWII for oil which is why we've always had cheaper gas prices than countries closer to the Middle East.

It's all coming out and only those in the deepest of denial refuse to look at the truth but for those who have an deye to see and ears to hear - the Truth is being made abundantly clear.

Unfortuantley , to finance this war we have sold most of our debt to China and Japan. Now they can call our policies.

Terrorism! ha! Bush has you so scared it's a wonder you aren't peeing in your pants. Then again, maybe you are.

Personally as for tax dollars. I would like to see that our money is being spent on our own security and making the US a superpower country. I keep on seeing all the big issues like immagration, port security and so on just being over looked. Sometimes I feel depressed about what is going on like I am living in a dream of news day after day the same crap. I wished it was the 80's again and Reagan was in office it just seemed like everything was so much better. But that is just me.

I would rather the money go towards the infrastructure. It seems like everyone one else is getting ahead of the U.S. They are making products that are safer on the environment, last longer, cost less and use less energy. We need to take care of our living situations (i.e dams, bridges, stronger homes, roads, cleaning lakes, rivers, etc...) and when this occurs we can put some of the focus back on making products that work better.

Repairing and upgrading infrastructure is an investment that will pay off for everyone.

Public investment in Good public infrastructure in a country is good for people's safety. And good for the economy because it supports better logistics which supports more efficient activity and operations. It helps everyone directly and indirectly.

Taxes must first be used for infrastructure and not for wars.
