The compound contains finely ground & sifted fullers earth, (diatoaceous silica), as an abrasive.
If you try to make it, your control of the particle size will be nowhere as good as that in the commercial stuff, and you'll ruin your finish.
Pay the man the $2.

Hi Kandy, I'm a professional painter. The stain you mention can be pretty tough to remove sometimes because bird droppings are very caustic and can penetrate the finish deeply. But,I've never seen one that couldn't be removed. The clay bar is a good idea to start with.Try rubbing it over the stain, using water as a lubricant and push on it with force. If that doesn't cut far enough the method we use is foolproof but it takes experience.Water sand the area with extremely fine sandpaper,1500 grit or finer.Once the stain is gone the sandpaper marks are removed by polishing with rubbing compound then wax. It might be a good idea to visit a body shop and ask them if they would try to polish the stain away.We do things like that without charge to build customers if they seem nice enough.

I don't know a recipe, but I do know that the stuff is cheap enough that it would cost more to home brew it. Just run to your local auto parts store and pick some up.
