It's not a thin layer of fuzz, but more like ball of white stuff with threads sticking out of it.

that's incredibly no longer ick/ich. ich is an exterior parasite that feels like little white dots and make fish scratch on rocks. he has a fungus. no be counted if that's white and cottony meaning that's a real fungus. no be counted if that's gray-white stringy, it somewhat is a micro organism called columnaris which could kinda resemble fungus. Jungle makes a stable fungus drugs called Fungus sparkling which will take care of a real fungus. Mardel's Maroxy is likewise stable; that's liquid so that's stable for smaller dosing and that i take advantage of it in my betta spawing tank to avert egg fungus and next fungus in the dad and mom. fungus is contagious, so in the journey that your fish has been in with yet another fish, take care of all of them. you ought to first of all an entire water exchange then initiate scientific care. do water differences each and every 3 or so days; after a water exchange upload yet another dose of the drugs. it is common for the water will turn yellowish throughout the time of scientific care. i've got on no account dealt with columnaris, yet i be conscious of that that's a gram-helpful micro organism, and could be dealt with with any med that take care of such bacterias (like Mardel's Maracyn).

It might be a infected wound or it might be some kind of disease or parasite. If the fuzz seems to be growing, it is more likely it is a disease or parasite. If the fuzz seems to fester and you start to see the fish acting oddly, its more likely and infected wound. To be on the safe side, you should put the guppy into another tank to be quarantined and check with a local aquariasts shop.

you need to go to the pet store and get tetracycline to treat the tank or if the store has someone working in their fish who is knowledgeble they might have another product to recommend.
Guppies are hardy fish the one I've had on my tank the longest tried to play dominant and he's kinda chewed on looking but he's still kicking.
