even if the cd has been used for something else? (assuming the cd isn't scratched) what am I doing wrong? cant get it to work

The problem is not in the burning, but in the player.

Not all CD players can play CD-RWs, due to different technology used when compared to CD-ROM and CD-R.
You need special circuits to play CD-RWs. If the player is compatible with CD-RWs, it should say so. Else, it likely is not compatible with CD-RW.

what software do you use to burn the previous files?
do you enabled the music files to burn in the cd-rw later without rubbing the previous files
I am not so sure about ccdrw but if it's a cd-r,i can certainly answer for you
And what mp3 radio player you are using-some radio can accept data& music cd and some doesnt.
