I am a cheerleader soo here is my advice
1. Practice your motions. Make sure they are SHARP. (This means your motions are really stiff.)Make sure they are so stiff and sharp that your arms hurt the next day. IM SERIOUS. Do this in a mirror EVERY DAY.

2. Have good high powerful jumps! This is very important! ~Always strech out your legs
~Always point your toes!!!!
~Keep your chest up!
~Keep your back straight!

(The toe touch is the most common jump used in cheering. So be able to do that perfectly!)
Make sure your legs and abbs are really strong because with out strong legs and abbs your jumps will be weak

3.And last but not least
~SMILE not a fake grinning smile but a believeable smile
~be LOUD yell from your diaphram not your throat!
~PRACTICE YOUR JUMPS EVERY DAY! Do frog jumps they help a lot with jumps.
{A frog jump is when you squat down and jump up as high as you can from the squating position in to a toetouch. Do 10 in a row and DO NOT STOP!}

A cheerleader is a gymanst who likes to yell a lot and wear outfits that are creepier then leotards. All you need to do is be able to be held up, hold people up, do various flips and jumps, and keep a fake smile on your face.
Not that cheerleading isn't a sport or that it's bad, but with only 8 days, you will be the equivalent of the cheerleader I described.

-you need to get your cardio up, to be prepared for all the workouts the coach will make you do.
-practice jumps such as herkys, pikes, tucks, toetouches, and tabletops [there most common]
-If your a gymnast, practice as many routines or moves you know.they score bonus points with judges.
-work on your voice.Cheerleaders must have a deep domanding voice to project the cheers and chants.
-although, flexibility is a major plus, you need good cordination too.
-eat healthy foods.drink lots of water.
all these things will make you stand out, and thats what you need to make the squad.

Unless you took Gymnastics I don't see it happening you have to be Flexible, know how to rap/ryme and you have to have taken atleast 3 or 4 years of Gymnastics.
