I went with family from Yorba Linda last summer and it took 6.5 hours because we stopped and had lunch for an hour.

We have done it in under six hours and we have been stuck in Bishop when the road closed due to snow and wound up never making the resort. Weather is all important to your trip so check with the chippies and make sure of road conditions. This is pretty much a straigt shot up the road but make sure that you are prepared. The climbing terrain can fool you and you don't want to run out of gas up here in the snow.

On the other hand if the weather is good you can just cruise on up and it usually takes a little over 6 hours. Have fun!
