Well everyone seems to think they weigh the same......... hmmmmm I wonder why.
Well, the feathers weigh more truley. The troy ounce is the only ounce used in the pricing of precious metals, such as gold, platinum, and silver. Since there are twelve ozt (the abreviation for troy ounce) in a troy pound and 14.58 ozt in an avoirdupois pound a pound of gold is 2.58 ozt short of equaling a pound of feathers.
In summery; gold is measured in troy weight.
1 pound of gold is 12 troy ounces or 373.24g.
1 pound of feathers is 16 avoirdupois ounces or 453.59g.
So a pound of feathers weigh more.

The feathers take up a great deal more space than the gold but they both weigh the same.

they both weigh the same, a pound is a pound regardless of what you measure. Now, if a cow and a calf weigh a buck and a half, how much does a pound of cheese weigh?
