Say you're in the store paying for your recent purchase and the cashier gives you back ten dollars more than he/she should. Do you keep the money or give it back?
This happened to me tonight and I gave the money back however, everyone with me commented that they would have kept the money.
So what's your thoughts?

This has happened to be before and I've never considered keeping the money. I guess that I am most curious about people that would keep the money and how they would justify it to themselves or others. Are there situations where you would keep it and the times when you would not?

Oh geez. I apologize for the typos above. "be" in first line = me and "the" in last line = then.
I got excited and my fat fingers couldn't keep up :)

That happens to my husband all the time...he always gives it back..thats why hes so lucky...we were at the gulf coast and went to fill up and he put his wallet on top of the gas pump and drove all the way back to Sanantonio then remembered where he put it...he called the gas station and they said some one turned it in and the money was still in it....also happened again here at home..

if it was a small store & i noticed i would give it back & a big store if i noticed at the time id give it back but if i found out later at home i would keep it because the BIG ones rob you blind & you did the right thing & you can be real PROUD of yourself so take no notice of the people with you well done!!
PAT yourself ON YOUR BACK :) & when ever you are tough on yourself remember what an honest person you are :)

to me.. it depends. i would of kept it

but the other day.. me and my sister were waiting for some lady to return to costumer service to pay some bills. and we were having a conversation with these two guys. one guy set his hundred dollar bill down..

than.. out of no where. that guy just blacks out. he falls really hard on the ground.. the other guy he was with just got him and set him down on a chair. than they left. me and my sister noticed the money. and with out thinking twice. we gave it back to him..

so... if the cashier gave it to me.. sure why not. but if some one lost it.. or left it behind.. than...give it back

good for you. Believe it or not what you deal out eventually comes back to bite your a.s.s, or kiss your cheek. Doing good makes you feel better, and someone is always watching.(besides god) You never know when a future employer will remember your honesty
