One of the first things you read when you are reading about breastfeeding is NOT to use it as birth control. Yes, use something else and yes, you could be pregnant. Take a test to be sure.

Hi There : )

You can indeed get pregnant while breastfeeding, You should not use brestfeeding as a method of birth control it just doesnt work with some women. My Mother never had a period after she had my brother, except for the bleeding you do after you deliever. Well, she never used any form of birth control, and thought brest feeding would be okay. My Brother was 6 months old and my Mother still had no period, and she was 2.5 months pregnant without ever having a period[[[just because you do not have a period does not mean you arent ovulating]]]], So its possible you could be pregnant, I would get a htp and see, then if it comes back negative I would go to my doctors office and see whats going on. Sometimes your body acts up when someone else is dependent on it.

oh and by the way when taking birth control pills such as yasmin makes your milk taste sour to your baby and turns him or her away!!!

Good Luck

Talk to your doctor, and be prepared to hear "Congratulations, mom".

I have a friend whose 3 kids are all about 1 year apart. She was nursing the first when she found out she was pregnant with the second.... and it hadn't even been 8 weeks since she gave birth.

The only sure fire way to not get pregnant, is to not do the deed. The only other thing you can do, is use a condom or spermicide, something that won't interfere with your milk production or have an adverse effect on your first child.

I wouldn't call 6 times a day "hardly" nursing now!!! Never use breastfeeding as a form of birth control. Unless you've had a hysterectomy, you can get pregnant. So get yourself on the pill, use a condom, or get your tubes tied....

Yes You can. I got pregnant with my 3rd child while I was breast feeding the 2nd. I was on the mini pill and breastfeeding and got pregnant, the less the baby feeds the more fertile you become that's what my doctor told me, but he told me to late i was all ready pregnant. I would suggest taking a test to be sure

I would not take any chances--use protection.
