Sometimes parents do not want their children getting into things they do not understand. Telling you 'no' is not the end... it is the beginning of a discussion where you explain to them what, where, when, how and why:
What MySpace is
Why you want a site there
How you intend to use it
When you will be on the site
Where you will get your friends list
And most of all, why they should trust you with it. They are being protective of you because they love and care about you. They want you safe from predators. Explain how you will be cautious by keeping your profile private and check out everyone who wants to be on your list.
Once they understand the above, it will be much easier to convince them to let you have an account there. Hiding it will only cause more trouble when they find out - and they can by checking the browsing history.

If your parents are smart enough to even know what MySpace is... give it up. There are all of the questions on answers about getting into myspace when at school. They may just be trying to tell you that worrying about your social life now will mean NOTHING in the world later. Concentrate on your work and your life could be awesome....... spend your time playing (think PSP for the guys) and one day you will wake up and wonder why you do not have what others do. Money, career, a house, family? MySpace is a waste of mental space. Your parents understand this.

Assure your mom that you won't reveal any personal information on your page (name, address, school, etc.), and that you will not accept any friend requests from people that you don't know.
Try showing her how myspace works, and that you can't get kidnapped or raped or anything if the people don't know who or where you are.
honestly, all the girls that get raped and kidnapped on myspace were either whores or incredibly stupid to reveal information like that to strangers. also tell her that myspace is very helpful for other things like displaying amber alerts in the area you live in. it's really great for locating lost children.
hope i helped :]]
myspace is really a fun thing and I hope that your mom can understand that the girls that have things happen to them from myspace are not very smart.

you can't blame your parents for thinking that way with all the news going around that people are using it do bad things like pedophiles, kidnappers, extortionist, etc..
They don't need to know if you have a myspace account. just be careful and never give information to people you just met on myspace.

Well maybe if a Family member had a MySpace, your mom would understand, as long as they were your friend.

guess what you can choose whether you want to put personal info on their or not
and you can make your profile private so only your friends can see it.
......tv is making myspace look like a place where you have no choice and you have to put personal info in there.
dumb **** news people

myspace isn't that great.... it's so bogus.
get a personal site, that shows character and ability to do your own stuff.
be individual.
your parents need to educate instead of inflate terror.
