Some of my Bell Peppers are getting soft brown spots on them while still on the plant. I want to know what is causing this. Thanx for any help you can give.

Tan or translucent spots on developing pepper is most likely sunscald from being exposed to sun the hottest part of the day. When you pick the pepper & cut away the spot, the rest of the pepper should be OK. Removing the pepper should stimulate more fruit protection.

Fortunately, since you didn't mention any black in the brown spots ... it is NOT a Soil rot, a vegetable rot caused by a soil-borne fungus. Keeping the peppers off the ground helps prevent this.
Good luck! Hope this helps.

The other posters have made excellent suggestions. Sunscald is quite likely (http://plantpathology.tamu.edu/Texlabn/vegetables/Pepper/images/pepper25s.JPG); sunscald is also often accompanied by an opportunistic fungal disease that takes advantage of the fruit's weakness.

Also, if your peppers look like this (http://www.oldhouseweb.com/gardening/garden/visuals/benrot03.jpg), especially if the spots tend to be near the bottom of the pepper, you may have blossom-end rot.

Brown stink bugs (http://cipm.ncsu.edu/cropprofiles/docs/Graphics/KYstink.jpg) can cause yellow, corklike spots in the peppers as they pierce the skin and suck out the juice. Stink bug damage is typically very small.

Stink bugs are stinging your bell peppers ..try using some 7-dust or a light soapy spray ,mix with lots of water.
