The person is already a part of the Milky Way as that is where the Earth is. Open space is about 3Kelvin so a body in space would be frozen if it is not near a star. Forever is a long time. Chances are that the body will eventually bump into something. Many things in space are very large and many are moving very fast. Since you have asked about forever then NO the corpse would not remain the same forever. The outer atoms of the corpse would slowly break away from the body in the process called Entropy which says everything likes to spread out if it can. Yes a dead person or a live person would float like the satellites for a while. Satellites do hit small amounts of air which slow them down and many eventually fall back to earth.

The problem isn't the lack of oxygen. There is a lot of bacteria in our bodies that doesn't need oxygen (called "anaerobic" bacteria) that can break down the tissues after death.
But since space is cold, if the corpse was not protected from the cold it would probably simply freeze and over time the fluids would slowly leave the body.
Eventually, you would have a dessicated frozen mummy floating in space.
If it came close enough to a star or other large object, that object's gravity could either pull the corpse in or, if the trajectory and speed was right, it could go into orbit around that object.

Since we are already in the Milky Way, we wouldn't have to 'shoot' them very far. Satellites are put into an orbital trajectory. They do not last forever unless acted upon by a fuel source. The most that they can last in orbit without such a source is a few hundred years. Then they will burn in the atmosphere upon re-entry. There may be no oxygen, but vacuum pressures would suck all air and water and who know's what else out of the corpse. What's left of the corpse after that-- why bother.

If you ejected a dead person out of a space ship traveling at high velocity in Outer Space, that person would supposedly continue drifting in Outer Space for ever. Since no reasonable space ship will ever leave the Milky Way Galaxy in our lifetime (1500 Light Years Wide) checking out this theory is going to be a little bit hard.

There is no oxygen but there is plenty of radiation and energetic particles moving at high speed which would probably erode the corpse to nothing eventually.
