here's the story: this man meets this fairly attractive young woman, spends the night with her, she starts following him here and there and generally behaving as though she is now his girlfriend. the two of them are in a pub one day when another bloke starts trying to pick her up. so her supposed boyfriend takes this guy out back and says you'd better think fast before i put a hurting on you coz that's my girl you're messing with, so the guy hands him a wad of cash and says how about you keep this and pretend you don't care what i'm doing. so being rather drunk and out of sorts he keeps the money and acts like he can't see what's happening. well the woman gets wind of what happened later on and she's right pissed off. she says she is going to go to the cops and have this guy prosecuted for trying to turn her out, as if he's a pimp or something. what's the chances she could be successful if she does report this as a crime?

It's a he said she said case unless the pimp has a receipt ? She has no case. Plus her background with the "guy" leads me to believe she has tried to blackmail guys before.

When you think someone has wronged you, and you want to take them to court, that is a CIVIL CASE, not a CRIMINAL CASE.

A Criminal Case is where the person has violated some law.

Now if you think a law has been broken, and you think the police are ignoring it, you have the right to make a citizen's arrest, and walk your prisoner through the justice system.

For example, if you think one of those hollywood tycoons is not being penalized for bad stuff, you can try to do justice.

But the reality is that the victims have rights, and it is awful easy to screw up, and violate those riights.

In this case, I do not believe a crime has been committed.
Both of the men are brain ugly cads.
The woman should have nothing to do with either one of them.
There are a lot of men around like that, I am sorry to say.

A pimp is someone who enslaves the woman, beats her up if she does not satisfy the guys he sold her to for sex.

In your example, the money exchange was basically to stop being a boyfriend and look the other way while someone else tries to date her.

Well it wouldn't be her prosecuting him. She's not a cop, or at least you didn't say she was. She could try to file a civil tort claim for mental anguish, (although I don't know how strong her case would be) but it's up to the police and the prosecuter whether they want to prosecute this supposed boyfriend and other guy criminally for engaging in prostitution-related matters.

IF the cops investigate and prove that cash changed hands, hes a pimp. - Unlikely.
She, if she can prove the facts as stated, has a civil suit. - Again unlikely.
Here- The guy stands convicted of being a rotter.

that is disgusting! you are inhumane and should be deeply ashamed of your behavior. regardless if she was your girlfriend or a stranger YOU put her in danger. How could you knowingly allow anyone to be in dangerous situation like that?
