One of the best I have seen is for outside. If you have a favourite shady area, you can run a hose to a peace of pipe with very small holes in it so that when the water is turned on, a mist spreads in the air. That mist is cooling!! I believe pipe like this can be bought.

I have even seen a product that has a tennis ball tin size container with a pump in it to create a pressure and then a single small hole at the end of a tube that spews a cooling mist. The tube has a squeeze type shut off for the water (mist). You put water in this and then pump it a few times, then when you open the squeeze valve, mist emanates from the end of the tube. This can be used inside or out and is portable.

If you haven't got AC (we don't) use lots of fans. Open up the windows at night to let in the cool air, and then close them in the morning and draw the blinds down tight to keep out the sun and heat...it's remarkable what a difference it can make in a home!

Take cold showers several times a day; wet your hair often.
Keep active with quiet activities; the time will pass more quickly.
