It's the same reason we pay for bad drivers, people that are unisured and underinsured, people that have illegal apts, illegal children in our schoool system, welfare, health insurance scammers, .......................................................it's the American way.

Well Billy consider it a life investment. If you do not help take care of the nations most precious asset (the children) you may one day find yourself being held up for a few bucks by someone that grew up with out a chance.
If that does not do it for you than consider this-giving to others is a blessing. It may actually make you feel good inside someday when you get over this self centered period of your life.

As a fairly right wing conservative, I do take exception when it comes to children in terms of gvt support. I really think that private charities do the best job in helping those in our society that are in need. But I also think that we must always support the children in our society because they did not ask to be born and do not have the ability to care for themselves. They will also grow up to be our nations future. I am perfectly ok with making sure children have food, shelter, clothing and medical care but I think we should do a better job making sure the kids are getting that help and that we dont just hand a blank check to irresponsible parents that use their kids as a way to get free gvt money.

Because Liberals don't believe in self-responibility!!
They don't even want to do their own work, that's why they want the immigrants here, so they will have somebody to do their work for them.
EDIT:
To Coragryph,
I beg to differ, they want the social health spending so they can give it to the unresponsible people, so they can get more abortions.
If we cut back on welfare, there would be less people buming and more people would have jobs to raise their families in a responsible way.

I feel the same way about paying for public schools, when my children attend private schools, or my tax dollars paying for abortions, when i am pro life. But thats just the way it goes....

I wish I knew. I don't have any kids, single, live alone and I'm trying to make ends meet, but if I had a kid the government social programs started by Libs would be shoving money down my throat. I don't have kids, but I got to help someone elses, but if I had one I wouldn't be struggling as much. Where's the sense in that?
How come fiscally and sexually responsible adults get nothing, but every yahoo that overcharges their credit cards and has more kids than they can handle get rewarded?

I don't feel I have to give that much. And I'm glad to contribute something. It all depends on how much you do or do not care about your fellow human beings. And if you are honest with yourself, you would think of things that you get from social programs too. For example, do you use public roads?

Life is so unfair and in this case I'm loving it that someone with your mentality has to part with his money to help others. You don't have a choice. Haha!

Because it's generally considered for the good of the community (country) if children are healthy and educated.
Otherwise, we run out of population pretty quick.
I don't agree with govt-mandated charity, but if there is one group that society should get together and help, it's kids.

In my day when someone needed help they gave you an axe. The rest was up to you.
The definition of community and charity were hand in hand. Assistance depended upon your willingness to participate, not a government mandate to support loafers.
