you may have a vibration damper on your racquet in a tournament provided it does not protrude above the bottom cross string. i know this because i was at a meet in college and the coach from another team threw a royal hissyfit over an opposing players racquet which had such a damper on it. he was such a jerk about it that he was throwing around the word "forfeit" if the opposing player didn't remove or adjust the damper.

Like the guys before me said. I would also like to add that if it falls off and lands on your opponent's side of the court, he/she can stop play and call it for a free point. Also, if his/her dampener falls on your court, you can stop play and take the point because it is the same as him/her touching the net or walking onto your court. However, play must be stopped immediately or the right to call it is forfeited.

Nope....It is legal as long as it is within the rules....
One cannot put some flashy, glittering so it affects the
opponents. So far never heard of them....but who knows these
days tennis in WTA has become a flashy place.

The pros use them on their racquets so it is legal to play with one in tournaments.
