how many miles does the average person drive in a year?

i think 16,000 miles but i could be way off

we have one car and husband drives 20 miles to work 5 days a week and just local shopping on the weekend. no big trips with the car.

Average most figure out is, about 12,000 miles a year...

But depending upon where you live and how far you commute is different.
In my personal vehicles, I've averageing about 18,000 miles a year... with what I do at work, that figure would be closer probably to about 30-35k year

But averages I've seen working on people's cars have been a low of about 6k to about 30k a year...

My husband drive 112 miles + a day 5-6 days a week. And probably put on at least that on the week-ends. Roughly 700 miles a week.

Insuarance companies use the figure of 12,000. It is between 12-15,000 on average which means some folks are driving a lot of miles while some of us barely log 5,000. It all balances out to 12-15K.

It used to be 8-10K in the 1980's.

i know i drive alot. i just bought a new jetta recently. about January or so... and it already has 1,506 miles on it. I'm only 16 though. so this may be different for me since I'm just starting to drive. Because I'm always wanting to drive somewhere. it's like a must.

they say the average now is 10-15 thousand,just ten years ago the national average was 10-12 thousand,so its a fact that people are having to drive more now days.but this years figures say around 15 on the average,good luck on it.
