If someone criticized Bush's policies then I dont assume you are a liberal. It is when you take it to that level of name calling or if you cant seem to seperate politcs from personal issues when it comes to Bush then I assume you are a far left liberal. I have a lot of criticisms of the presidents policies, especially domestic policies. But I am not so arrogant as to call him names like stupid and evil and an idiot. There is an incredible lack of respect for the office of the presidency on the far left. So when I hear someone attacking the president personally for what he does politically, I make the assumption they are a liberal.

I don't believe it is criticizing President Bush that labels you a liberal (or a conservative), it is the manner in which you do so. Both sides are sure that they are right. When I see a question posted by someone named Osama W. Bush and it makes all kinds of absurd accusations, I know that it is a left wing extremist nut. When I see a question for the "black helicopter" crowd, I know it is a right wing wacko. I criticize the President and I criticized President Clinton before him. However, I never resorted to calling either of them traitors and such, just questioned their judgement on some issues.

That's assuming Bush is a conservative. And that depends on what your definition of conservative and liberal are. Last time I checked, running up a massive debt that the voters have to pay for eventually isn't exactly "conservative." I'm as critical of him as anyone, and I'm not exactly a "liberal." But I'm Canadian, so you guys would probably think I'm a liberal because I'm pro-universal health care and all that fun stuff. It's not about left and right, it's about what makes sense in your country.

The people who still support Bush, all six of them, aren't ready to admit that he's made mistakes or lied or committed crimes. So they figure the only reason anyone would criticize him is 'irrational Bush hatred'.
Also, for years now Republicans have used the word 'liberal' to mean anything they didn't like or anyone they disagreed with. Newt Gingrich said Pres. Clinton was 'the most liberal president in the history of the US'. Which is really baloney if you think about it. But anyone who disagrees with Bush is going to get called 'liberal' whether they are or not. 8^)

Liberal is just a word created by the right wing to use as a weapon. If you listen to Limbaugh or Medved it's obvious. It's sort of like a dim witted person using curse words to make a point.Like Dingy Harry--Sandy Burglar & so on.The far right,in my opinion govern through fear & greed.I think that is what got Bush re-elected.It's hard to believe that someone as incompetent as Bush could be left for another term.& the band played on.

The main reason seems to be that the liberals or left have been so fiercely attacking the President from his first day in office that it is an automatic res ponce to any attack. As it stand right now with a general election coming up some conservatives are trying to distance them selves from President Bush to some how show they are different then him.

If this were true it would be that 100% of liberals criticize President Bush. Mathematically the likelyhood is great.

What a wonderful job the radio industry did for the republicans in making "liberal" into a bad word. Liberals are the ones who made it legal for Black people to vote. Is that wrong? Liberals came up with social security and medicare. Is that bad? Liberals came up with the interstate highway system, food safety laws, environmental protection, the 40 hour work week, work safety rules--so do you want to go back to the 1890's when a bank could steal your deposits and you could just go starve to death in the streets? Liberal is good. Look it up in the dictionary, it is a good thing.

Most republicans are loyal even in the face of blatant stupidity and corruption. Thus they cannot understand how someone could insult Bush, and still be a Republican(which to most people is used interchangeably with conservative). Thus they deduce them to be a Democrat(liberal).
Its because most Republicans don't understand that they can keep their Republican ideals, and still not support a Republican, thus they assume no one else can either.

It's a way of dismissing the views of the majority who disapprove of Bush and his actions. Call them "liberals" and you automatically think of a much smaller group rather than over 3/4 of America.
