Well, Bible based standpoint:
1) The Bible says, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord." So revenge is not an option.
2) BUT, the Bible also talks about "A time for war and a time for peace." This covers the whole fighting-for-family/country rationale.
Just thought I'd throw in those to cents. This is, after all, a large part of what our laws are based on.

Actually, I'm surprised anyone would ask such a question. YES Killing people is wrong, a sin against God, and a sin against the family of the person being killed and the family of the person doing the killing. God says, in the Bible, leave the revenge up to Him, because He will repay. That is how family feuds get started. It is a choice you make of your free will, even in the case of self defense. Killing is wrong! There are no good reasons to kill someone.

Other than the obvious self defense, accidental or during a war, I think a good reason would be if you caught your spouse cheating. Crime of passion. Doesn't mean you wont go to jail, but, I can see it being justifiable.

I believe there are reasons for murder. Self defense, the defense of your family, and those who are in absolute danger of harm qualify. I have no compunction of using whatever force is necessary to preserve members of my family, or anyone who is threatened with death safety. Tough, I may have to defend my actions to law enforcement, but I believe my decisions will be acceptable.

wow you people are sick. You would kill your spouse if you caught them cheating??? I feel sorry for whoever marries that person. If someone has killed other people it is not revenge to KILL them. That is like punishing a child for hitting their friend by hitting the child. NOW I could possibly see the motivation for wanting to kill terrorists, pedophiles or someone who intentionally murdered someone but I personally would recieve greater pleasure watching them suffer then if I killed them... know what i mean?

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So if somebody is angry and wants revenge, lets say against the person you love most in the world...and they kill that person, how would you feel about that? Not good? Or would you accept that the killer just had to kill your...mom? dad? wife? sister? your own child? Not likely. Do unto others.....

I don't think there is a good reason to kill anyone other than defending yourself, your loved ones or the general public.

Only in self defence or if you absolutely had to in a war or something.
Otherwise, it's never right.

other than self defense, the only good worthy reason is an ACCIDENT.

Back in the day ...you didn't even have to have a reason to kill someone...it was just human nature...You can hunt people in Africa for about $2,500 dollars...try it and let me know how you feel...
