Set your parking brake. I think you need a 12mm wrench, anyway crawl underneath your truck, maneuver to the rear axle and find the yolk. (it is the connection at the rear differential). Use some kind of marker and mark the drive shaft in relation to the yolk on the rear differential. (drive shafts are balanced)Remove the 4 nuts (2 on each side of the universal joint) carefully remove the 2 retainers that hold the u-joint in the yolk. Be careful when wiggling the u-joint from the yolk. You don't want to loose any needle bearings inside th u-joint caps. You might have to use a good screw driver for leverage as the u-joint might be stuck in the yolk. Pry between the yolk and the u-joint. After the u-joint is free, just slide the drive shaft towards the back of the truck. You may lose a bit of tranny fluid but don't worry.
Then reverse to reassemble.
Good luck
P.S. Keep your key in your pocket so no one tries to drive off with you underneath the pickup.

I'm not sure if there's a special setup with a Sliverado, but generally to remove a rear drivshaft you unbolt it at the differential and it will just slide out of the back of the transfer case. It will be splined to the output shaft of the back of the transfer case. I'm speaking about transfer cases and driveshafts in general here, but I'm guessing that's how it is for the Silverado. If it was a different setup I'd be surprised. Hope this helps.

Is it from the rear end, or the circulate case, which one? additionally, did you replenish the rear end or circulate case with oil? i'm hoping it wasn't frequent engine oil, must be equipment oil. or did you replenish the engine with oil? Is it oil from the engine leaking, or is it equipment oil from the from the circulate case? If that is engine oil, then you definately've a rear considerable seal undesirable. demands pulling the motor to restoration. If that is equipment oil, then you definately in all likelihood could swap the seal the place the driveshaft is going into the circulate case, easy restoration, drop driveshaft, replace seal, re-setting up driveshaft. in certainty, you are able to pinpoint the leak, locate out what fluid it is, then let us know. we can help extra useful with extra useful information. EDIT: ok, that's the front seal on your differential, you are able to no longer purely take 4 bolts out and restoration that one, you will could pull the differential shaft with a view to swap that seal. That demands particular knowhow and strategies, in case you merely pull it out, you may get the shims knotted up and throw off the differential mesh with the ring equipment, then your inquiring for all forms of worry. maximum suitable to circulate away this restoration to the pros. The seal is not any problem to restoration, that's the ring and pinion gears and them being set proper that is worthwhile to difficulty approximately.

Bring a roll of electrical tape under the truck with you.
Once the u joint is free from the yoke, tape the end caps so they won't fall off.
Then pull it out of the transfer case.
