so if i got an external hard drive, when plugged into the computer, it would act like a really big flash drive right?
for example, all of my media (movies, music...) that i use with itunes is taking up too much space on my hard drive. i could get an external hard drive, save it all to that, delete the media from the internal hard drive, and still be able to access and use it with itunes when the external hard drive is plugged in. right?

Yes,. but you will need to set the configuration of your software to know where the new location is.

yes ur external hard drive will act as a flash drive but when you transfer ur files to ur external and delete from ur main memory you will have to go back into i tunes and pretty much delete all ur songs and then go to file>> add folder and specify the music folder in ur external...this is what i had to do...you might not have to...if ur files play after the exchange and deletion than this means ur system recognized the movement if not do what i said....and also if you have not already bought ur external>>> i got one on newegg.com>>> an internal hard drive with an enclosure and i paid 140 for 500 GB...you would just have to partition it...you can go to this website for a movie to accompany you..>>>>>>

yes, but with itunes, it's a little complicated to transfer your media library to the new hard drive. you need to make a new folder in the external drive. then set that folder to be your itunes music folder, then click on consolidate media library. it should then do the rest for you, this way you get to keep your playlists and playcount etc...

Yes. It basically works like a big flash drive.

Of course it wont be as fast transfer, (unless its SATA) but yeah you should be able to access all your music without a problem.
