I heard Adam Sandler call his date a small town kid in Mr. Deeds. I wonder what that is and is that a compliment?

A small town kid is just what it sounds like, a kid who has grown up or lives in a small town. I personally am one. =) It can be a compliment, it certainly isn't hurtful to be so I can't imagine anyone being offended.

A small town kid is a person who grew up in a town of relatively small population (usually below 1,000 people), and a town with 1 main shopping street but no large stores or malls, no movie theater, maybe 1 or 2 restaurants, a small grocery store that carries the bare minimum of necessary items, maybe a rural school (unless the students are bussed to larger schools out of town), maybe 1 gas station, no major hotels/motels, are lucky to have a modern post office, etc. It is nothing to be ashamed of, and some of the nicest people come from towns this size. Sometimes, most of the citizens are related to each other. The people will do all they can to help someone and most of the time without a lot of questions asked.
