1. If you have 20+ days and 3 books, that's one book a week, so that can be done. I would try to get all the reading and writing done the first two weeks, and save the last week for typing, printing, proofreading, editing and preparing for school.

2. I would read the summaries of these books online, and also print out the summaries of each chapter. Read each summary and skim read the corresponding chapter, as if you are checking to see if it really matches what was said to be going on. You can make very brief notes of (a) main characters (b) main events/conflicts (c) how the conflict is resolved and what the meaning or message is
3. Then write your essay in your own words based on very basic understanding of these key people and points in the stories. It does not have to be too detailed, but it has to answer the question or meet the requirements expected of you (so read all directions/instructions carefully), and it should include the main topics/themes and characters/events.

Keep it simple, as someone would report on the news.
If it needs to be a particular length, then pick one point or topic for each paragraph that you would need to fill up the required pages or lengths. As long as you organize your ideas, and state at the beginning what you are presenting and summarize at the end what you have presented, your essay will express a complete statement.

Don't panic, just divide the task into parts you can do, do each step, and then put them all together.

Note: Another thing you can do is hook up with one or two buddies. Sometimes it helps you process the material better when you interact with another person. That person could also help you if you get stuck and don't understand the main theme of one of the stories. Usually once you know the main idea and events that take place, you can follow the rest of the plot or details without getting overwhelmed.

uh-oh ok so if you read fast then yes dont waste any time start reading if not then listen to the audio of the book you can be doing chores or other stuff and you can still understand if not go to barnes and nobles and/or sparknotes.com and type in the names of the books and they should have a summary of the book and what the characters are and represent and basically everything about the books if that doesn't work go to a library website, and type in the names of the books if THAT doesn't work then google the books theres bound to be someone out there who spent their time writing a summary and if that doesn't work, hurry cause your going to have to read and actually understand it 'cause you've got an essay. maybe even ask your friends who have read the book and ask them for a summary.
really good luck and stop worrying and doing something, dedicate as much time as possible it'll be worth it once your done.
good luck!!!

Start reading tomorrow. Take one book and read so many chapters and take notes. After your done with the book start the essay. That way the book is still fresh in your mind.
If you need added help go to sparknotes and check the cliff notes out.

I have only heard of mice and men. It is a really easy read probably could read it in an afternoon. If I was you I would try to read as much as you could. If not try to find cliffnotes. Free ones online include sparknotes.com and pinkmonkey.com.

Good Luck

How in the world can anyone answer this question? How would anyone know if you will understand the books? You have more than enough time to read them. So read them.

i'd read them fast. it's better to have something not perfect than nothing, right? plus, if there's any discussion of them, you'll be able to give some details or plot points. that'll convince anyone you've spent a bunch of time on them.

Obviously you had a great summer and forgot about them! Ah, to be a kid again.
Try this site and use the search engine for all of your "forgotten titles". It's easy to comprehend and hopefully you'll recall them.
