I know you only asked for the first thing but I am oing to tell you everything I would do:
1. Pay off my mom's mortage
2. Pay off all my mom bills
3. Buy everyone in my family a new car
4. Go on a major shopping spree with my mom and sister
5. Put some of it away in storage
6. Find a cure for diabetes and cancer
7.Give 250,000 dollars to Cursade For Children and charity
8.Buy my grandpa a house
9. Get a dog
10. Pay my way through college, and med school!!!

Ha, if I had a million bucks, the first thing I'd do with it is invest it, because that's what a smart person would do, so I can get even more money, you know the saying, "You have to let your money work for YOU".

Pay off my house. Help my brother who just got laid off after working for the same company for 20+ years. Start a trust for my son. Save some for college for my son.

Write a will just in case something happen to me I would want my money to be split the way I chose.* Then I would go to the bank with it.

Party with my friends and family for a week at a local hotel or vacation spot..come back and pay all my bills and probably theirs too!

put it in the bank and let it collect interest - still work while it is collecting interest like its not even there - then live off all that money for the rest of my life
