You have asked the right person! I am 13 and twice a year we drive to Florida. 26 hours straight in the car. There are various things that you can do. I always bring a pillow and a small blanket so I can sleep if I get tired. Bring a couple books as well. Long ones like Harry Potter, the Inheritance Trilogy (Eragon), Lord of the Ring or any other really long books. I find they draw you in and the time passes more quickly. If you are the type of person who gets really car sick when reading, audio tapes are good. Where a person reads the book out loud on tape. Those also rocks. You could bring some little games like cards or those small magnetic checker boards made specifically so you don't lose the pieces in a car. You can find those probably at Wal-Mart or Toys R' Us. Since you have a DVD player, you should stock up on lots of movies. Bring some snacks for when you get hungry but your legal guardian refuses to stop some place to eat. I always bring a journal with me. There are so many things you can do with them! You can write a story, use it as a diary, draw little pictures, or record everything about the trip so far. The things you have seen from the car windows, what you have been doing. I find it is nice to come home and relive your trip. You should bring some type of music playing device, whatever it may be.If you have parents like mine who like listening to classical music or willy nelson, it is very nice to be able listen to your own stuff. If you have a cell phone, I like to text my friends a lot. I like to bring a hair brush and a whole bunch of hair ties, little and big hair clips, and headbands to practice different hairstyles for the new school year. Plus, if you fall asleep, wake up and your hair looks like something crawled all up in it and died, and you are going inside a restaurant to eat, a hairbrush is always nice :) I like to have with me camera so i can take pictures off all the pretty scenery. Hope I have helped you out! Have a good time on your trip!

If you're not one to get carsick, I can't recommend a book highly enough! Dig into the latest Harry Potter book, or read something else that strikes your fancy.

Also, bring an mp3/CD/tape player with plenty of music, if you have one, and don't forget the headphones!

Bring a pillow in case you get a little sleepy. The steady sound of road noise can lull some people right to sleep, and if you're hitting the road early in the morning, it is nice to be able to sleep in the car.

Bring some colored pencils and paper, or a notebook and pencil, or other sort of thing. I used to spend a lot of time on road trips doodling, making up stories, and documenting what I saw.

Bring some snacks, of course... you wouldn't want to be on the highway and have 6 hours until dinner if you're starving! Something like a pack of crackers or an apple keeps well in the car and isn't too messy. Bring a drink, too, but don't drink it all at once or you might find yourself in dire need of a rest area that's not there!

Also, don't forget the old favorites, like etch-a-sketch, clay, and cards! Finally, you can always play road games if you have another passenger in the car; like road bingo (instead of numbers you have different kinds of cars, or restaurants/hotels, or colors) or spotting a license plate from as many states as you can, or being the first to spot a semi truck of every color in the rainbow.

1] bring a pillow, and sleep
2] make a to-do list in a purse sized notebook - chores/projects to finish; clothes to replace/buy; jewelry to buy; supplies for school.
3] play car games - I spy, license plate game, etc.
4] pull out a sack of homemade cookies or brownies for those people who are driving you. Fresh fruit that doesn't require peeling is good, too. [ cherries, raspberries - yum. ]

Bring a large cup, a cooler full of ice, and a case of Pepsi. That always makes a drive twice as nice. Also, stop at as many McDonalds etc... as your parents will allow.
