I don't really care which pitchers are or are not likely to test the market. Hypothetically, if all of them tried Free Agency, who would make the most:
J. Peavy?
C. Zambrano?
C. Young?
J. Santana?
J. Verlander?
Some other young stud I'm forgetting?

Santana

he's only 27 and proven he's the best pitcher in the Bigs in the last 3 years.

That's tough because they all are on equal footing. It depends on who gets the most offers and it becomes a greed war with insane offers. People would be most likely to target Reavy, Zambrano, and Santana, before Verlander and Young.

Santana, Verlander, and Zambrano would/will all break the bank. Peavy and Young (and Sabathia) aren't far behind.

it form of feels that era is the only maximum persons seem at for pitchers, nevertheless it probable relies upon on the GM. If i will basically %. one, i think of IP is the only that should be rather well worth the main for a beginning pitcher. For a reliever? i'm going to bypass with Strikeouts. continually good to have somebody who can are available in and blow somebody away. For hitters, i think of HRs are probable overrated the main. this is the sexiest stat. yet, i think of RBIs ought to be rather well worth the main. the share stats are secondary.

I'm not sure if anybody aside from the Stupid Yankees would pay as much as the Giants paid for Barry Zito. If anybody does it would be either for Johan Santana, Francisco Liriano, or Tim Lincecum. All very young and very talented.

This Cub fan says Zambrano. Of course I hope the Cubs re-sign him, in which case we got no problem.

Linecum. He is on fire, and desperate teams will bring young talents in often to rile up the old guys. Teams like the Devil Rays would pay tons for him. Plus, he can only get better.
