Salary employees are supposed to be based upon a contract giving you pretty strict hours that you work...e.g. ethier a 40 hour week or 9-4 etc... There is room for overtime but that should be optional.

Federal wage an hour laws do not apply to salaried employees. Unless your STATE has laws on the issue, the limit is 168 (24 x 7). Hourly employees are not limited in hours, as long as they are paid overtime. Minors are limited, but are never salaried employees. The ONLY occupation for which Federal law limits hours is truck driving.

Normally, if you work anything more than 40 hours you are supposed to get comp time, so you can take that time off because your salary is based on 40 hours.
