I don't know if it's actually possible to live forever. Technology can conquer aging and disease, but not things like accidents or being killed. I read somewhere that even without aging and disease, the median lifetime would be maybe 2-5,000 years before something else killed you. Still, that's a heckuva improvement from our puny 70-80 years now.
If we want to live more than a few hundred years, I think it's pretty much a given that we'll have to abandon these inefficient, fragile biological bodies in favor of more durable and reliable (and upgradeable!) artificial platforms, especially for the mind. Once we get mind uploading down, then we can start doing the really cool stuff like expanding our memory, intelligence, creativity, and thinking speed.
In the really, REALLY long run, the expansion of the universe and eventual exhaustion of hydrogen will make energy too scarce to support life. But depending on the laws of physics and how well our civilization's descendants hold up, maybe we could tunnel into a new "basement universe" or a pre-existing alternate universe, or find some other truly limitless energy source.
In the immediate future though, there are actually people working on this. There are some pretty amazing biomedical advances already in the pipeline, like artificial blood (that's actually far more efficient than our own), effective gene therapy & repair, longevity gene research, and some great cancer cures. The trick, of course, is to live long enough to take advantage of these amazing advances.
Otherwise, there's always cryonics.

Statistically no. A USA mathematician has calculated the odds.
We live in a dangerous world indeed. (With a body that lives forever biologically, but can still perish from external sources, no again.) If you drive a car alone, you would fail to reach a thousand statistically. Calculate in the other factors of life versus risk assessment, and it is depressingly obvious. If you doubt this then Hawkings has it that you either perish in an ever expanding cold lifeless universe, or a universe that will end up in a singularity and a big bang once again.
The odds are not good for a material everlasting existence.

Have you ever heard of a tree that died of old age? I havent.
A tree's structure is perfectly efficient although very simple. If such a being with simple structure can last that much, how about the complex human body?
The human body is such an astonishing machine. It is designed to last forever, like other creations. Given the right conditions surrounding it all the time, as long as the soul chooses to remain with it forever, the body could last (really) forever.
However, the soul gets burdened by its experiences with the body. The reason the body sleeps is for the body to reenergize itself and for the soul to feel its soulful characteristics once more. We can sense the freedom the soul is enjoying while we sleep as pictured and felt in our dreams.
Therefore, yes, it is possible to remain with the body forever (if it is what you mean by "living forever" because the soul is already capable of living forever). But I doubt it that the soul would want or choose to remain with the body forever because being with the body is like being shackled with heavy chains for the soul.
We are made of energy. Energy is transformed. It can never be destroyed.

Well every seven years all of our body's cells have been replaced with new ones, so technically every seven years we aren't the same person we were before, physically. And eventually even if you could keep up the cell reproduction I think it would be impossible to prevent a mental collapse from just being alive too long. But who knows.

Yes and No. Yes because we already do, We are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme sou. We never die, only this material body dies, We are not this body IE race, color, nationality, job, religion, gender, mind, intellect, senses, etc. NO Technology will never make us live forever. Why? Because our lifespan is predestined by our previous actions. No one can control that But God. Karma (what goes around comes around) One thing is sure in the material world called Maya (illusion) and that is death of this mortal body. No man can alter that. For the science of karma, reincarnation, and the eternal soul, Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhuada tells all.

Yes, it's possible to live forever - but not on Earth. Technology can only take us so far, but God has a better plan for us & will reward His son's follower's in Heaven with a beautiful eternal life.

When you go to sleep, and lose consciousness...That is what death is like. Its not that bad after all! We can go to sleep easily because we expect to wake up in the morning, but that satisfaction is not there when it comes to death - unless you are very spiritual or religious. Either way, I don't care...I live for the present moment.

-LIVING FOREVER on earth is a Biblical promise, that is included in the Lord's Prayer as a promise: "......thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven....Matthew 6:9,10.
--THIS IS in harmony with this in Revelation:
(Revelation 21:3-5) “. . .With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” 5 And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” Also, he says: “Write, because these words are faithful and true.””
--Most likely this is not what you were looking for , but this is the promise throughout the Bible, for mankind!
