Good lord....is there nothing else you can complain about?
so he isn't right there..he is the president for goodness sakes! you don't think he has other, more pressing matters? even on vacation...do you honestly think he doesn't work? and don't you think he deserves a vacation? or should he just..well..hop a plane anywhere...anytime something bad happens?
he'd be in the air all the time!
it is horrible...the bridge collapsing is just horrible... and like the rest of the country i mourn the loss in that tragedy...my heart goes out to the families of the missing...
but...
is the president expected to go to the site of a plane crash? a bus accident? a car wreck that kills 5? these events are no less important to the families of those who die in these circumstances...than the families of those who died when that bridge collapsed....
when it affects the country...such as 9/11 did...he was on the spot..there...
i don't expect him to run off every time something like this happens...
i would rather he do his job...or...enjoy what he can of his vacation...

OK I am not a big fan of the Bush man, but COME ON!!! Do you think he really wields THAT much power? Does he have a magic wand or something? He is the figure head of the US. He is not the all powerful Oz.
On second thought that is just about the way the presidency is set up. A big face on a screen that all the people can point at when things go wrong.
Your last statement should be the old standby that many people I know always say... "I love my country but fear my govenment".

I know you are driven by your hate of the Government and Bush, but what do you want him to do? and what good would it do for him to be right there looking at everything. I will never understand that. If he were there you would find something else to whine about like why did he fly in a helocopter and not in a boat. I can't wait to hear the beginnings of how George Busch somehow managed to destroy the bridge himself or knew about it in advance. Pull your heads out people, it was a horrific accident and that is all. The guy can't win for losing and I am not even a Bush supporter.

I don't know how old you are, but you're acting like the bridge collapsing is Bush's own personal fault.
Get a grip, Don't you think that maybe the inspectors of that city and state should take responsibility for it' collapse. Quit waiting for the Government to come to your aid for every little thing. The government in Minn. is responsible. If you hate it so much here why don't you go try and find someplace better.

And President Bush is supposed to do what? Fly in everywhere in the country every time a bridge falls, a tornado runs thru town, a levy breaks? Geeeesh, grow up already! He was elected to run the country, not run and hold everyone's hand every time they stub their toe.
Why not direct your anger to the ones that have caused this? The MN Govt have known for over 10 years the bridge was in trouble, why didn't THEY do something?

Calm down, lady. Did it ever occur to you that he has quite a few things to deal with? Let's see...we are at war, half of the West is on fire, etc. etc. This isn't exactly an ongoing disaster, like Katrina. There's not much the president or vice president can do. Maybe Hillary and Barack can head to Minnesota, and pretend they care.

Hey, you really don't want the president there
when someone like that shows up, everything stops, security is horrible, highways for miles around are shut down, hospitals have to stop what they are doing to be ready incase there is some horror that takes place.
You want your president as far from these things as possible. As you get older I hope you understand as a rule, you want the government out of your life as much as possible.

The Federal Government warned that the bridge was unsafe 2 years ago. But the Democrat controlled State Government insisted it was safe. So now the President should drop what he is doing, fly out there, hamper traffic even more just because 20 people died? Do you know how many people die in car wrecks every day? It works out to 40,000 per year. No wonder people are unhappy, they have no idea of perspective. I hope you hold Hillary to the same standard when she is President.

You obviously forget that monitoring every single bridge in the country is NOT HIS JOB. He has enough to deal with in the next 72 hours!!
Bush Derangement Syndrome at its worst...
PS don't try and compare this to a city-wide hurricane and massive flooding.

I understand that Laura Bush is headed out there Friday to express her condolences. I think that's about right - a significant Bush family recognition of the tradegy without blowing it out of proportions.
