Well, a "radical" liberal would by definition be someone outside the main stream....

So, take 100 million, pick the 100,000 you think are most outside the liberal mainstream, and do a poll....

I doubt most of them are atheists.

Please don't confuse someone denying the existence of God with someone who doesn't believe your religion should be rammed down everyone's throats as a matter of law.

No. Many radical liberals are deists or monotheists,

While your average whole sale believer in organized religion and other superstition is probably voting Republican,

many common sense people who can see there is something really wrong with America, also don't fall easily for ancient myth passed as truth.

Christopher Hitchens is all for the Iraq war and sticks up for Bush and the neoconservatives,
and he is the most militant atheist in America right now.

Oh, And Cheney is said to be an atheist.

Is that your opinion. Did you do some down to earth, honest research on that or was it an off the cuff, quickie judgment that you made. Personally I think that there are probably as many churchgoing radical liberals as there are radical liberals who are atheists and for the other person who suggested that radical liberals who go to church are nothing but hypocrites, I ask you what factual criteria do you base your opinion on. Personally I know many church going people from faith based communities such as Witness for peace, Pax Christi, Sojourners, the Catholic Workers and the Quaker American Friends Service Committee who consider themselves radical anti war, pro peace activists who have participated in non violent civil disobedience protests on many occasions. So before you leap to your judgments, I suggest you do some non biased research on the topic.

No. You're just a bit mixed up. And, as they say, don't believe everything you hear, and listen and judge for yourself. Here's just a few liberals you might consider radical, but perhaps are the most religious (in the best ways possible), than some of your conservative "Christians". Judge for YOURSELF!
Jimmy Carter.
Albert Schweitzer.
Einstein.
Jesus of Nazareth.

Well, I don't know if I'm a "radical", but I'm definitely a liberal, and I'm not an atheist. In fact, I'm a Deist, so I do believe in God.

You're coming across as prejudiced. I don't know if you are, but in the US there is such a thing as freedom of religion, or freedom of no religion if that's what you choose.

sadly yes.

while you or I might use trends to decide which clothes or car to buy, liberals use trends to decide what religion they belong to and how to live their lives.

while we remain grounded in who we are, libs change according to the flavor of the week. if next week, it's fascism and paganism, that's what radical libs will be.

It sure seems that way. They probably had a terrible upbringing, weren't taught morals, respect, etc. I tend to pity them. It's best to leave them alone, maybe they'll eventually grow up. We can only hope. :)

There are many conservative atheists also. But there is a notable difference in personality. They are respectable and don't want a Nanny State.
