i was on 2nd base and for some reason my coach wanted me to steal right after the pitcher takes a look at me and then the catcher screamed GOING so the pitcher stepped off and threw it to 3rd and they tagged me out... caught stealing or picked off? hopefully picked off so my caught stealing stays at 0%

You can only be picked off the base you occupy. In this case you were on second base and put out at third base, therefore, you were caught trying to steal third base.

Caught stealing. Technically, picked off is also caught stealing. That's how it goes down in the books. They may keep track of pick offs but they count as caught stealing.

Technically for the runner's stats, any time you get picked off it is listed as caught stealing. Only the defense gets pickoffs as a stat.

Caught stealing because he did not get you at the base you started at. If he got you at second it would have been a pick off.
