Mudcats need other organisms to live off of and to do what someone suggested would surely doom the fish to a slow death. This would of course make the water even less potable... So...
Well the choice is yours... I think it would be cruel though...

Whether this is an urbane legend or another fairy tale from the books of the past, forget it. Your going to pollute your well and maybe someone else down the line on the same aquifer. I would certainly sue you living close to you and hearing this.

If you need more water, do what we all do, get a well driller in and drill it deeper or, clean the sand point, maybe the screen is dirty. There are other ways.

very possible

as a mudcat will tunnel thru the soft areas to get fresher water for itself and that can only lead to better flow for your well

Ummm, what's it going to eat? I imagine all you'll get out of this is some very smelly water. Fish don't generally go digging holes in anything but the softest dirt and if your well is composed of that then it's going to fill up with mud.
