Your PC shut down incorrectly: ie, it crashed or you turned it off without shutting down.

I assume you're using vista, cuz that automatically checks with MS to see if there is a know fault (Xp only sends an error report).

Try re-booting. If you still can't get onto the internet, try rolling back to an earlier Restore point, as you may have some corrupted files. Start->All Programs -> Accessories -> System tools -> Restore Point.

Something may have been corrupted as a result of turning off the computer incorrectly or a power failure or something like that. I would recommend re-installing your web browser and make sure you have all of the most current updates on all of your software, as well as java plugins and such.

You shut down windows incorrectly and it ran a consistency check on your drives.

Your fine, next time shut down from the start button.

I would recommend you do a reboot.

The most likely explanation is that your hard drive is dying. Make sure everything is backed up!!!

Sometimes it will do this if you leave your memory stick in when you boot the computer, although this doesn't fit with the errors you got later.

This sometimes happens if you've left a CD or DVD in a drive.
