Nothing became of it. Just like most liberal ideas, wait long enough and it fades away. 20 years ago it was global cooling.

It's not a "liberal idea" and it will come back in two years

I'm in Southern California (lol) and I don't know how you can say that this issue has just blown over!

It's just become such a political issue that people can't seem to talk about Global Warming without making it a "Democrats vs. Republicans" issue. And people don't discuss politics or religion in polite company. But it certainly has not gone. I know people who are changing the very way they live because they believe in saving the planet.

Haven't you seen the OCTA busses with the global warming ads? They are also in commercials on local TV stations. They are here: http://www.fypower.org/res/ads/

I'm a Republican trying to learn all I can about this important subject. And I'm sorry to say that that "20 years ago global cooling" argument has already been addressed satisfactorily. If you want a link I'll gladly look up a few for you. You can't honestly think this is is a fad. People really care about this issue.

Looking closely at Gore, the opportunist, he saw the environmental bandwagon as something he could exploit; Jessie and Al had the exploitation of poor and formerly oppressd people covered. Al rolled the dice on gloabl warming because he was the first liberal to recognize how it could be a weapon to use against the enemy (corporations). Using the Clinton strategy, you can fool the foolish people all the time (1/2 of the liberals believe anything another liberal says) so if half the population support socialism, he's got 25% in his pocket. Al makes a lot of noise; he could not steal the election of 2000 (but boy did he ever try) and he fell short on Global Warming, for one large reason. He hasn't figured out how to connect global warming to oil companies.

Can anyone help Al out? Remember, whatever you spout, you get an automatic 25% of the population to believe you. Throw in some story that Bush and Cheney belong to a secret organization that turns fresh air into posion that capitalists exploit for cash, & voila, you are the new Al Gore.

You are apparently not informed of the CBC and BBC documentaries a few months ago on how the world is already affected.

The apparent "cooling" in temperate zone is climate change, as was correctly predicted.

Pls. read, "The Last Generation", a science non-fiction book in your pubic library, which will clarify the picture for you.

"The...global warming thing came and went"?? Are you completely ignorant? I guess so.

"2007 is expected to be hottest year on record"

http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/01/04/news/climate.php

"President Bush invited representatives of major industrialized and developing countries to a climate change summit in September at the same time that the United Nations is holding a similar conclave."

The only thing that came and went was your head. It came and then went up your as$.

Actually it was 30 years ago that it was global cooling. 20 years ago it was global warming and we were told that the world would be destroyed by now.

Lo and behold the world is still here.

Fact is more people care about dealing with current issues that could make us dead within years if we dont deal with it than issues that might happen hundreds of years from now with little evidence we are responsible or could fix the problem.

Exactly. Add to the matter that Global warming is an "idea"... not a fact. The earth is over 4.5 BILLION years old. Temperature readings have been recorded accurately for MAYBE 50 years...... how are we to tell that this warming trend isnt just part of how mother nature does things? And, some parts of the world are colder than they were 20 years ago..... explain that Al.......

Tell that to the people living near or in the Article Circle. If by "went" you mean the amount of coverage it gets in the media, then well yes, they are talking about it less. But don't forget who runs the media--its the corporations, and they have no reason to go out of their way to report on the sad situation our environment is in. By the way, does it bother you that the Bush administration did everything it could to silence the scientific community on this issue?

I guess you haven't done much reading or research on global warming and the effects thereof. In fact, I am pretty sure you didn't even bother to see Al Gore's movie.

So your opinion is just that...no factual points in your shallow, ignorant statement.

It pains me to know people like you don't have a clue because you don't READ!

I dare you to do the research and read about global warming, and maybe have some references to back up your warped sense of reality.

Maybe where you live but outside of Orange County, global warming is still an important issue and believe it or not, there is a world outside of Southern California that carries on.

You have to remember, the demographic that he was targeting has a very short attention span. Add in the fact that what he advocates would take some actual sacrifice on the part of his followers and it's pretty clear that his supporters will find some other cause that they can advocate and not have to actually do anything except complain.
